How can we help?
Quick answers about practising, voice rooms, gifts and your account.
Getting started
How do I start?
Pick any song on the home page: every song is free on every plan. You can read a song's page without an account; to play it, sign in with Google, Facebook or a six-digit email code (no password needed).
Use the search and the language, genre and level filters to find something that suits you.
Can I use PianoTera on my phone?
Yes. Turn the phone sideways for Practice. Tap Install app at the bottom of any page to add PianoTera to your home screen; it opens faster and full screen.
iPhone and iPad browsers cannot read a MIDI keyboard, so there you play on the on-screen piano.
How do I save songs I like?
Tap the heart on a song row or in the player. Your saved songs are in the menu under Me โ Favorites.
Practice & scores
How do I share a song?
Press Share at the top of the song page. Copy the link, send it to another app, or send the song in Chat. Anyone can open the link.
What are Practice, Full Sheet and Falling Notes?
- Practice: a scrolling one-line score above a piano.
- Full Sheet: the whole score, page style; tap a bar to jump there.
- Falling Notes: colourful notes fall onto the keys, no reading needed.
Where are the tips for the song page?
New accounts see a few short tips the first time they open a song. To see them again, press the ? at the top of the song page, beside the song buttons. It is there in Practice, Full Sheet and Falling Notes.
What is Wait Mode?
Press the Left or Right hand button (or both). The music waits at each chord until you play the right notes for that hand, on the on-screen piano or a MIDI keyboard. Speed goes from 50% to 125%.
How is my score worked out?
Every Wait Mode run is scored out of 100%:
- Accuracy 50%: the right notes, no wrong ones.
- Fluency 30%: keeping going without long stops.
- Hold 20%: holding each note as long as it is written.
One hand earns only its share of the song, and you also see a separate hand score. The Practice Map colours each bar: green 90%+, yellow 60%+, red below.
What is New Best Score #N?
Each time you beat your own best on a song (same hand), you earn a numbered New Best. Your Best is always your highest score.
How do I repeat a few bars?
Open the score box, pick the first and last bar on the Practice Map, choose how many times and press Start. Each pass gets its own score. Free accounts have 20 Repeat passes a day; Plus and Pro are unlimited.
Where can I see my progress?
Progress Insights (Plus and Pro) shows your practice time, goals, habits, skills and every song's trend. Your profile shows your streak and hours played.
Ranked & leaderboards
What is Ranked Mode?
A full official run: both hands, original speed, from the start, no pausing. You need to be signed in with a MIDI keyboard. Your best score each month enters the song's Leaderboard, which restarts every month (UTC). Free accounts get 3 Ranked runs a day; Plus and Pro are unlimited.
What is on the Leaderboards page?
Monthly boards for practice time, New Best Scores, gifts and Ranked scores, with your own place. Open it from the menu.
Voice rooms
How do voice rooms work?
Create or join a room from Voice Rooms. Public rooms are open to everyone; Coach & students rooms are only for your coaching links. Up to 8 people sit on stage and up to 100 can listen.
Your microphone is never turned on by itself: you choose when to speak. Listeners raise a hand to come on stage. Free accounts have 60 voice minutes a day; Plus and Pro are unlimited.
What are Creator goals?
Creators working with PianoTera get a plan for 30 days with a few targets, such as hosting rooms or gaining Partners. Reach them all and the plan renews for 30 more days, with the targets back at 0. If you have them, open Creator goals from the menu to see your progress. Only you and PianoTera can see these numbers.
Where are the tips for Play Together and Spotlight?
New accounts see one short tip the first time they open each one. To see them again, press the ? inside Play Together or Spotlight.
Where are the tips for voice rooms?
New accounts see a few short tips the first time they enter a room. To see them again, press the ? beside Invite at the top of the room.
What is Play Together?
The host picks a song and a mode: Play Along (everyone at the same tempo), Wait (each player moves at their own pace) or Duet (players split the left and right hand). Everyone presses Ready, the host starts, and results are saved to your history.
How do I play several songs in a row?
Open Up next in Play Together. Anyone can add a song; the host can add several, move them up or down and remove them, also during a round. With Autoplay (10, 20 or 30 s) the results show a countdown to the next song. Tap Play next song (or tick Keep me in) to play it: you get ready by yourself and the round starts when everyone is ready, or after 20 seconds with those who are. The host can also press Play next at any time.
New to sheet music? What helps?
In Practice, press Learn notes & chords just above the piano keys, on the left. Under Notes, press any key to see how it is written. Under Chords, choose a chord to light its keys and see its family. It is free on every plan.
Can I switch between Practice, Full Sheet and Falling Notes in a room?
Yes. The view buttons at the top of the room piano change only your own screen, also in the middle of a round; the song keeps going. Full Sheet needs a MIDI keyboard, because it has no piano on screen. Clicking the score never stops your round.
What is Play Song?
Listen to any song together. The host plays, pauses and skips; everyone can request songs, and each person sets their own volume.
What is Spotlight?
Perform live for the room. Everyone hears your piano through your microphone and watches your keys light up on a big stage. Join the line with Join the line, and press End my turn when you finish.
Performers can add sheet music (Auto or Wait) and turn on the song's sound for everyone. Viewers send gifts and tap Applause.
What are Room Challenges?
Three daily levels in public rooms, each with three or four tasks you do together with other pianists. Each level gives Coins (3, 8 and 10). Progress adds up across rooms and resets every day.
- Warm up together: play rounds with other pianists, twice with the same pianist, and try both Wait and Play Along.
- Make music friends: play with 2 different pianists, play a Duet, and get 10 applause in the Spotlight.
- Room star: play with 3 different pianists, finish a round with 3 or more, and send gifts to 2 different pianists.
Coins, Diamonds & gifts
What are Coins?
Coins are what you top up and spend: 100 Coins = US$1. Use them for gifts, frames, effects and Plus. Coins never expire, cannot be transferred or cashed out, and never change scores or song access.
What are Diamonds?
Gifts you receive become Diamonds. Open My items & gifts โ Received and convert them within 30 days: each gift gives half of its price in Diamonds (gifts received before 28 October 2026 keep 70%). 1 Diamond = 1 Coin = US$0.01. Diamonds pay for gifts and items too: Coins are used first, then Diamonds. You can also turn them into Coins from Diamonds in the Shop.
How do I withdraw Diamonds?
Tap Diamonds in the Shop, then Withdraw. You can withdraw from $10 (1,000 Diamonds); a 5% fee covers the transfer, so 1,000 Diamonds pay out $9.50. We send the money by hand on the next 5th or 20th by PayPal, QRIS, bank transfer, USDT or Alipay, and you can cancel until it is paid. You must be 18 or older, or a parent or guardian receives it. Coins you top up cannot be withdrawn.
What can I buy in the Shop?
- Avatar Frames and Effects last 7 days from purchase; preview them free first.
- Features: Plus for 7 or 30 days, or Pro for 30 days, for you or a friend.
How do I send a gift?
Tap Gift in a voice room or on a Moment, choose a gift and how many, then press Send. Bigger gifts play an animation for the whole room, and Playful gifts appear on the person's photo. Strike gifts (Music Box, Love Letter, Love Rocket, Cupid's Arrow, Thunder Strike, Confetti Cannon, Golden Meteor) are fired from your photo and hit theirs.
What is my gifting level?
Every Coin you send as a gift counts toward 50 levels, shown as a badge next to your name. Every 5 levels brings a cosmetic reward, like exclusive frames, an entrance banner or an exclusive gift. See Your level at the bottom of the Shop.
What happens to gifts while my room is minimized?
While you browse other pages with the room minimized, nothing pops up or plays over the page you are on. Gifts sent to you wait for you: a small note says who sent what, the Room button on the call bar shows ๐ and how many, and the best gifts play when you return to the room.
Missions
Where is everything in the menu?
The menu has four sections; tap one to see its links right there. Me: profile, favorites, Progress Insights, your items and settings. Social: Voice Rooms, Chat, Moments and Friends. Level Up: Missions, Leaderboards and coaches. Shop: the Shop, Upgrade Plan and Affiliate. Help sits underneath.
How do Missions work?
Open Level Up โ Missions from the menu. There is one Daily mission with 3 tasks and one Weekly mission with 5 tasks, from practising and Ranked to Spotlight and Moments. Finish every task, then press Claim to get a frame or effect: 1 day for the Daily mission, 3 days for the Weekly one.
Plans
What do Plus and Pro add?
- Free: every song, 20 Repeat passes and 3 Ranked runs a day, 60 voice minutes a day.
- Plus (US$12/month or US$121/year): unlimited Repeat, Ranked and voice time, Progress Insights and privacy controls.
- Pro (US$24/month, US$242/year or US$364 once): everything in Plus, plus live lesson video with your students, your camera on stage in Spotlight, Coach Mode, a Find a coach listing and 90-day insights.
Paying never changes scores or leaderboard places. See Upgrade plan.
How does the affiliate program work?
Join free on the Affiliate page: tell us where you will share (for example Instagram and your @username), and you get your code, link and QR code. Share them anywhere, even on a live stream. People who sign up through you stay yours for 30 days, and you earn 40% on their first paid Plan; they get a bonus too.
Your earnings arrive as Diamonds 7 days after each sale. Withdraw from $10 (1,000 Diamonds, 5% fee); we pay on the 5th and 20th of every month by PayPal, QRIS, bank transfer, USDT or Alipay. Room links you share from a voice room carry your code automatically.
Can I move from Plus to Pro?
Yes. On Upgrade Plan, choose Upgrade to Pro on the Pro card and pay the Pro period. Your unused Plus days are not lost: they are added to Pro at their value. Pro costs twice Plus, so each unused Plus day becomes half a Pro day (for example 20 days left become 10 extra Pro days). Pro starts as soon as the payment is confirmed. Moving from Pro back to Plus is arranged through Contact us.
How do I find a piano coach?
Open Find a coach from the menu (Level Up). Filter by style, level or lesson format, compare prices and student reviews, then tap Request a lesson with your level and goal.
When the coach accepts, they invite you to their studio. You see exactly what they will see before you join; then you can Chat and get assignments. If the coach shows open times, pick one (or several for a package) when you send the request; the times are held while the coach answers and confirmed when they accept. In the studio, use Book lessons (choose โSame time every weekโ for a regular slot). Every lesson has Add to Google Calendar, and โSync lessons with your calendarโ keeps all of them in your calendar. Payment is agreed with the coach directly: PianoTera does not take lesson payments. Only a coach's own students can review them.
What is an open lesson?
A free live lesson by a coach in a public voice room. Find them at the top of Find a coach and Voice rooms: tap Join when it is live, or Remind me to get one notice when it starts. During the lesson, tap the coach's card in the room to see their prices and request lessons. Coaches with Pro schedule one from Your coach listing โ Schedule.
Who can enter a Coach & students room?
Only people with an active coachโstudent link to someone in the room: the person who opened it, or a coach or student already inside who is linked to that person. Your other coach can join a lesson you are in, but their other students cannot follow along. Nobody else sees the room in the list.
Can I show my hands on camera in Spotlight?
Yes, with Pro. While you perform in Spotlight, tap Share and choose Camera or Phone camera (scan the code). The same button also shows your Screen (on a computer), a Photo (a page of music, a chord chart) or a Whiteboard; you can draw on a photo or the whiteboard with three pen colours, Undo and Clear, and the room sees it live. You first see a preview only you can see: Rotate turns a phone held sideways, Crop shows only the keys and your hands. Tap Show to room when it looks right. You can add a second camera (for example your phone on the keys and your laptop on your face). It stops when your turn ends and nothing is recorded. In a Coach & students room, students on any plan can do this too while their Pro coach is in the room.
How do I change where the camera sits?
Tap the Layout button on the camera picture: Side by side, Camera on stage, Camera big, Stage big, Camera only or Stage only. With Camera on stage the performer drags the camera anywhere on the stage and drags its corner to size it, like a live stream. The place is remembered on that device for the next performances. Everyone sees the performer's layout; a viewer can pick another one for that turn. With two cameras, Swap cameras changes their order. Full screen works with every layout; on phones it turns sideways.
Can I turn off the room sounds?
Yes. Settings โ Voice rooms โ Room sounds. They are short, soft cues when people join or leave and for new chat, in rooms of up to 6 people online; the host also hears raised hands and song requests in any room. Room buttons, the round countdown, players joining, finishing and the results have their own short sounds too, and the same switch turns them off. They play softer during your own Play Together round, and very softly while your microphone carries your piano (headphones keep them out of your mic completely).
Why does the Shop make sounds?
Converting gifts drops one small coin per gift and a sparkle when the Diamonds arrive; buying, equipping and claiming rewards each have a short, soft sound. Turn them off in Settings โ Sounds โ Shop & reward sounds (this device only).
How do I list myself as a coach?
Coach listings are included with Pro. See the example listings in Find a coach, then open Your coach listing (also linked from Coach Mode), add a headline, what you teach, languages and your prices, then publish. Lesson requests appear there and in your notifications; Invite to my studio uses one student slot.
Each coach has one listing: put all your lesson types in it, with up to three packages and the ways students can pay you. A listing shows for 30 days; when it is about to end, tap Renew. You can edit or delete it at any time.
In the Schedule tab, tap or drag over the week grid to show when you teach. Students then pick a time when they request a lesson, or book directly once they are in your studio; nobody can take a time that is already booked.
What is Coach Mode?
Pro coaches see each student's practice to the bar and give assignments that complete themselves. Students join free on any plan and can leave at any time.
How does lesson video work?
In a Coach & students room, tap Lesson video. A Pro coach and their own students can then see each other in 720p (lower automatically on slow connections). Each person starts their own camera; nothing is recorded.
- Phone camera shows a QR code: scan it with your phone, signed in to the same account, and point the phone at the keys. Then tap Crop phone view and drag the box over the keys and your hands: everyone sees only that part.
- Your own camera is the small picture in the corner: drag it to another corner, or tap it to make it big. Use the โถ button (or double-click the video) for full screen. Live MIDI keys light up on a keyboard under the video.
- In โฏ: Clear piano sound for your microphone (use headphones) and Show my MIDI keys.
- The coach chooses what to work on (4 bars, 8 bars, the whole song or custom bars), steps through the piece, gives it as homework and sends lesson notes. In a group the coach can show one student to the class.
Students on Free have no voice time limit while in a lesson with their Pro coach.
Can I watch a Play Together round?
Yes. While a round is running, everyone who is not playing sees Watching in the round card: tap a player's name to see their keys live, with notes rising like the Spotlight, and send them a gift. Players see ๐ and how many people are watching them in Live score. Nothing is recorded or scored.
What happens to gifts while I play?
During your own Play Together round nothing covers the piano: gifts sent to you wait and play when the round ends, and a small note tells you who sent them. While you perform in the Spotlight or have the lesson video open, gift shows play without darkening the screen. Gift sounds stay off while your microphone carries your piano (Spotlight or Clear piano sound), so the room never hears them through your mic.
